The Soul Collection

You see the vast ocean stretch before you, and a haunting melody fills your ears. In a heart-stopping moment, a behemoth of grace and power emerges from the blue. Orphic, meaning 'beyond ordinary understanding,' was created as an ode to these majestic beings' profound complexity and enigmatic ways. From the haunting melodies of their songs to their intricate social, whales possess a depth of intelligence and emotional complexity that challenges our conventional notions of animal behaviour. Their existence in the vast expanse of the ocean, a realm largely unexplored and still shrouded in mystery, adds to their mystique. Despite decades of study, much of their communication and social interactions remain a mystery, leaving us to marvel at the depths of their communication and social bonds. Moreover, their role in shaping marine ecosystems and maintaining the delicate balance of oceanic life underscores their importance beyond mere physical presence as stewards and protectors of the seas.

*The original is currently touring with the Artists For Conservation 2024 International Exhibit of Nature in Art!

Reference photography was provided for inspiration by Wade and Robyn Hughes. 15% to the Western Australian Ocean Foundation.

Limited Edition Giclée Canvas Prints (5)

All my canvases are printed on premium 410g/m2 fine art matte canvas using Giclée printing. The pigment ink is designed to meet gallery and museum longevity requirements and ensure the consistency of shades for over 200 years. All prints are finished with a professional varnish coating to provide you with an additional layer of protection, more contrast, and a more pronounced canvas texture.

All print orders are produced on-demand, so please allow up to 2-4 weeks for processing, production, and distribution.

Shipping within Canada & US: Canvas prints are custom framed using premium-grade 1.5-inch-thick wood for an authentic gallery look and shipped ready to hang.

Shipping beyond North America: Canvas prints travelling internationally beyond North America will be shipped unframed inside mailing tubes. Shipping canvas without a wooden frame keeps shipping expenses low and helps to ensure your artwork arrives safely. The image is printed with a 1.75” white border, which leaves enough space for the canvas to be stretched around framing bars, or you can hang it as is.

For thousands of years, First Nations people have walked on this land. Their relationship with the land is at the centre of their lives.  Wherever you are, please take a moment to reflect on the traditional caretakers of the lands you call home.  Here in Bruce County, Ontario, I want to acknowledge the traditional Territory of the Anishinabek Nation: The People of the Three Fires known as Ojibway, Odawa, and Pottawatomie Nations. And further give thanks to the Chippewas of Saugeen, and the Chippewas of Nawash, now known as the Saugeen Ojibway Nation, as the traditional keepers of this land. I want to acknowledge further the more recent history and ongoing connections the Saugeen Metis have to this place. May we all, as Treaty People, live with respect on this land and live in peace and friendship with all its diverse peoples.
